However, compared with BGs these games are much more combat-oriented with less contents, personalities, and conversations in the story part. Nevertheless they are still fun: if you create your own dream party and share empathy with your own teammembers you don't need additional actors to get you involved. If you enjoy reading the novels, especially the North of Faerun, this game is good. I like the pronunciation of elven words but found the Elven civiliztion out of context in the frozen North. Make sure you create strong characters as well as enable your cheats, or the game is impossible!!! The design is great. Music, special effects, and the voice over hooks you from the beginning. You should not fall in[to] the trap compare it to Baldur's Gate series. Baldur's Gate had no predefined route. It was your choice to visit some places first after the other. That was a little too much for me since sometimes I visited the same place or I didn't remember where I've left someone of my group... B. So...you've taken the nth run-through of Oblivion and are thinking how wonderful it is to play in a sandbox? Black Isle originally perfected this style of gaming many years ago in Fallout. What made the Fallout games unique were not just its post-apocalyptic setting, but its character creation scheme - called S.P.E.C.I.A.L (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Ability and Luck). Enough has already been said about the games themselves in the last review of this title. I suspect that it is no coincidence that interest is high in the original PC titles since Bethesda released the spectacular Fallout 3. Be advised, these games are old and "old school" PC RPG's. They have the tried & true isometric view of their peers such as Diablo, Warcraft, Baldur's Gate and other titles of their ilk.
