I cloned the drive using an external 2.5" USB SATA Hard Drive Enclosure and Acronis True Image software. Everything went perfectly. The new drive is 7200 RPM vs the 5400 RPM of the old drive. This is the 7K500 series model of hitachi travelstar hard disks. Having bought 2, one for my late 2009 mac mini (originally comming with a 5400 rpm fujitsu) and another for my 2009 MAcbook pro. These hard drives have amazing performance with only a small hit to the battery life on the macbook pro. Both systems are about 20-40% more responsive. I did have to order a door and mounting bracket for the blank bay, but this was not an issue with Amazon. They arrived to me very quick, in fact in under 24 hours. The packaging was great and both work superbly and are very quiet. The product is a lot of fast storage that's relatively affordable per Gig of space. It's huge! And it fits into a laptop! I used the Seagate Drive Wizard (download from their website) to clone my 100 GB HD to this 500GB drive before swapping them in my Lenovo X60 Tablet. It has been my experience that Seagate drives are the most robust and dependable, but the reliability has typically come at the expense of noise levels higher than that of comparable drives.
